I’m particularly influenced by Schiele and Hasui in the classical department, and by comics, graphic novels, Disney and the work of certain Japanese animators in the modern era. I try to balance my work between commissions and exhibitions.”

Illustration is a discipline that eludes me … I think that’s why I’m drawn to it so much (pun intended). Colwyn’s portfolio has stuck with me for some time now, it’s one that I find myself continually visiting and always finding something new within a piece. I love that the slight monochromatic style of his work still brings depth to the images.
